What you get for free

Every account can create up to 10 projects with up to 5 domains each. That's 50 addresses under digitalweb.host, each one served over HTTPS. There is no trial and no card on file, because there is nothing to bill.

  • A clean address such as shop.digitalweb.host or api-staging.digitalweb.host
  • A valid SSL certificate on every address, renewed for you
  • DNS that resolves worldwide within seconds
  • A connection test before the domain is created, so it works the first time
  • Health checks every 5 minutes and a status page for visitors if your server goes down

How a free domain works here

The address lives under our domain, digitalweb.host, the same way a GitHub Pages site lives under github.io. You don't own the top-level name, but the prefix is yours for as long as you use it and nobody else can claim it.

For side projects, demos, staging servers and client previews this is usually all you need. When a project grows up and you buy your own .com, you can keep the digitalweb.host address running next to it.

What it does not do (yet)

DomainDock routes web traffic (HTTP and HTTPS) to a server you already run. It does not host files for you and it does not open a tunnel to your laptop, so your app needs a public IP address or a public domain.

Connecting a domain you bought yourself is on the roadmap. Today every address is a subdomain of digitalweb.host.

Set it up in three steps

  1. 1

    Sign in with Google

One click, no password to remember and no credit card.

  2. 2

Create a project and add a domain

Type the name you want. Availability is checked as you type, so you know straight away if shop.digitalweb.host is free.

  3. 3

    Point it at your app

Enter a public IP and port (203.0.113.10:3000) or a domain that already serves your app. We test the connection and tell you what to fix if it fails.

Questions people ask

Yes. Addresses under digitalweb.host cost nothing, there are no paid tiers today and we never ask for a card. The limits are 10 projects with 5 domains each.

Any name that is not taken or reserved. Names are first come, first served across all users. A handful of names like www, api and admin are reserved for the platform.

No. We create and manage the DNS record for your address. You only tell us where your app runs.

Not yet. Bringing your own domain is planned. For now every address is under digitalweb.host.
